Since joining the company in 2005, Peter has not only grown into an exceptional leader but has also become an integral part of our story—a journey marked by hard work, bold decisions, and a commitment to excellence that continues to shape our success.
Peter’s story with Harman began humbly yet purposefully. In 2005, while finishing his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, he joined the team performing property and grounds maintenance. It was a role that showcased his work ethic and hands-on approach—qualities that would later define his leadership. Balancing school and work, Peter earned his degree and set his sights on the future, contemplating law school and preparing for the LSAT while also securing his real estate license. His ambition and drive were clear, but fate—and a little family influence—had other plans.
At the time, Peter was dating Lisa, the daughter of our founder and President, Dave Harman Sr, and their relationship was blossoming. While Lisa spent a summer studying abroad in Spain, Dave took the chance to sit down with Peter for a heartfelt conversation. Impressed by Peter’s potential and work ethic, Dave asked him a thought-provoking question: Would he be interested in stepping into a management role within the family business? It was a moment Peter now sees as a blend of risk and opportunity. Around this time, his relationship with Lisa deepened, leading to their marriage in 2006. Meanwhile, property management had not been part of Peter’s career plan, but after some consideration he made the bold decision to dive into the family business—a choice that, in hindsight, proved to be one of the most rewarding of his career.
Choosing to dive into the family business, Peter brought with him a blend of education, determination, ambition, and a fresh perspective. He learned the business from one of the best and greatly values the time, tutelage, and mentorship he recived from Dave Harman Sr. Over the past two decades, Peter has risen as an industry leader, helping to steer Harman Property Management Group to new heights. Under his leadership, the company has flourished, expanding its reach, enhancing its services, and delivering exceptional value to investors and clients alike. Peter’s steady leadership, keen business acumen and strategic vision have not only grown his own investment portfolio but have also empowered countless others to achieve their real estate goals.
Beyond his contributions to Harman, Peter has made a lasting impact on the broader rental housing industry. His passion for the field has led him to serve on local and national boards and committees, where he advocates for innovation, property rights, balanced laws and best practices. His involvement reflects a deep commitment to improving the industry he loves, earning him respect and admiration from peers and colleagues across the country.
