Winter Tips for a Safe and Comfortable Home
As your property management team at Harman Property Management, we want to help you stay safe and comfortable during the colder months. Here are some key winter tips and reminders for our tenants:
1. Preparing for Cold Weather
Keep your thermostat set to at least 65°F, even when away, to prevent pipes from freezing.
Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate around plumbing.
Close doors and windows tightly to keep heat in and cold air out.
2. Snow and Ice Safety
Use concrete safe salt or sand on icy walkways to prevent slipping.
Report any icy conditions or hazardous areas to our office immediately.
Keep a snow shovel handy for clearing personal areas if needed.
3. Heating System Maintenance
Replace furnace filters regularly for optimal efficiency - usually every month.
Do not block vents or radiators with furniture.
If you still notice heating issues, contact us for assistance.
4. Emergency Preparedness
Keep extra blankets, flashlights, and batteries in case of power outages.
Stock up on essential supplies like bottled water and non-perishable food.
Know how to shut off your water in case of a pipe burst.
5. Renter’s Insurance and Winter Incidents
If you rent with us Renters Insurance is required. Make sure you keep your policy current and updated.
Renter’s insurance can help cover damages from burst pipes, roof leaks, or other winter-related incidents and cover your personal belongings.
Review your policy to ensure adequate coverage.
6. Holiday and Seasonal Safety
Be cautious with space heaters and never leave them unattended.
Avoid overloading electrical outlets with holiday lights.
Keep flammable materials away from heat sources.
If you have any concerns or need assistance, feel free to reach out to our team. Stay warm and safe this winter, and thank you for being a valued tenant at Harman Property Management Group!
